ABOUT ME

Passionate about godly music, Cherryl Hoogendoorn has been teaching and conducting sacred music for over thirty years. Her educational background and experience qualifies her to offer orchestral instrument and vocal lessons for all ages and performance levels. She arranges music, directs several small musical ensembles and orchestras, and performs piano and flute on a regular basis. She is continuing studies in theory and performance through the Royal School of Music. Many of her students have accomplished their goals, and you can too! PURPOSE

To train students in the basics of music academically:
to learn notes, chords, scales, rhythm, sightreading, aural training, classical scores, hymn playing, playing by ear, playing by chord, improvising, intervals, fingering, theory, writing music, and arranging music.

To train students to know the music emotionally:
to feel the music, to learn dynamics, phrasing, different touches, and pedaling.

To train students to use the music as a spiritual avenue to worship God:
to learn hymn playing, spiritual songs, to focus on the message of the music itself, and to have a standard of excellence.
